Biography
Professor Adrian Leong is a Senior Consultant Colorectal Surgeon. He is Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore and the Deputy Chief of the Department of Surgery at the National University Hospital. He is also currently, the Chairman of the Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons of Singapore.
His special interest within the field of Colorectal Surgery is in the treatment of colorectal cancer. He was invited by the Ministry of Health to draw up the Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of colorectal cancer in Singapore. He was also a member of the committee which produced the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Health Screening.
At the National University Hospital, among his many other appointments, Prof Leong was the immediate past Head of the Clinical Cancer Genetics Service. The Service was responsible for assessing the risk of colorectal cancer in families and suggesting screening measures. Prof Leong's other commitments to the treatment and prevention of colorectal cancer include sitting on the 3rd and 4th National Committees for Cancer Care.
